This week, we continue the theme of making room in our HEART and our HOME for the King! (Hopefully you've been reading along in the book of Luke to prepare your heart for the meaning behind this Christmas season).
As for your home? How are you going to prepare it to embrace and exhibit the celebration of the birth of Jesus? Do you have a manger? Can you make one with friends? Do you have Christmas ornamentation that is primarily about Santa or Jesus? (I'm just asking...:)
Take this week to prepare your heart and your home with the foundation of saving money, calories, and time and please post any ideas that will be an encouragement for all of us!
Be encouraged,
Becky

Thank you for the time to prepare your heart. I have mostly Santa ornaments and snow men etc. I wonder why I get caught up in the holiday verses the birthday of Jesus. I have a new home this year to decorate and I am going to change pace and theme. Focus it on Jesus and celebrate his life. Diana
ReplyDeleteI have been ill most of October and November. I have to have a colonoscopy on Thurs Dec 3 because of biopsy taken in Oct. Please pray for me. I also have a job interview earlier in the day. I am asking God for a new job. One that I can be responsible for just me and still help people as a nurse. Blessings....Diana
ReplyDeleteLOrd, I ask you to please take care of Diana through all the details of these things she is dealing with.
ReplyDeletePlease bring healing to any medical conditions she is facing, and keep her in peace through the tests. Please also show her where she is to be working--the exact place you would have her to be.
In Your Son's name.
Amen.
Hi,
ReplyDeletewill pray that prayer for you also.
Ditto Laura's prayer for Diana. I was watching a Beth Moore study last night and she said these words,"God requires so much of us at times so that we can experience the unmatched exhilaration of partnering in triumph. Our Father delights in exalting, ambitious praying." SO we are praying for you and will wait for God's triumph in your lives.
ReplyDeleteI have all the toy soldiers and stuff that isn't our Lord and Savior in a box to give to the garage sale that the proceeds go to a family in need. I want to be reminded every day who I want to serve. Surely not Santa!!! Thanks Becky. Prayed over the bibles I am giving to the ladies in shelter. I am excited to see what God is going to do in their lives.
Diana, I pray for your interview, your next job, your new home and your new life--one of rest and restoration!
ReplyDeleteBe encouraged,
Becky
I do believe that all Christians should put lights outside their houses and decorate for Christmas, some kind of manger scene is also nice. Our neighborhood is now mostly only decorated for Halloween, which i think is sad. We have lots of Christmas decorations, 8 boxes full from being married for 32 years and 4 kids. Each year the kids get a dated or hand dated ornament. We love all of our memories. I have a snowman collection that stays up all winter. I have an angel collection that stays up all year. We have lots of nativity sets, a few Santas are around too.
ReplyDeleteCould you give us more details on the fasting? I have only done it a couple times , a long time ago.
I am not sure I agree with you that all Christians "should" put lights up. I just went out and purchases new LED lights (I threw our 30yr + lights out last year. I haven't taken them out of the box because I want to be clear that this is what God wants me to do. It seems that all around me people are hurting both physically and emotionally. Are lights and decorations the way of proclaiming Jesus. I am going to pray about this a few more days. I so want my life to reflect Jesus and be sensitive to those people in need around me. I am very glad for this group which causes me to re-think how I celebrate Jesus.
ReplyDeleteSending a prayer request for my beautiful older Golden Retriever Boris.
ReplyDeleteHe has been tested for a lung fungus, because he has severe symptoms which are either that or cancer.
We're waiting for the test results on that.
Yesterday he had a seizure and one today.
They can come from either situation.
It's very scary to see, and we're trying to handle everything the best we can.
The fungus is treatable.
Please send up a prayer for us, and our beloved pup.
Well, I haven't even done anything for the holidays yet, so I dont have any real ideas. But I have been pondering that Holy night when our hope was born.
ReplyDeleteAlso, It seems the rest of the year's work on money, calories and time is paying off. The doctor said I lost 6 pounds, which brings me exactly where I should be. Next goal is to bring down my LDL, which is a tich high (without meds!).
I have been walking the younger dog by myself. My husband's job is all physical so I need the exercise more than he does anyway. The older dog indeed has cancer, and has been put on prednisone as of today. He isnt allowed to walk right now, but maybe one day soon he'll feel like it.
And I have been reading Luke, and enjoying the study so much. Amazed at the things that I havent read for so long, and challenged to read and not dig! Greatly appreciating the wonder of it all.
And prayer--well, I really found new dimensions of prayer praying for my dog this weekend. I really put things in God's hands, and relied on His answers. I put real faith into practice, I think.
Robbie, I should have said it was my opinion that Christians should put lights up and or decorate. It is because to me it is an outward sign that the home celebrates Christmas . And I did mention a nativity , I did not mean all the santas and over the top stuff. Also , it just makes me feel happy when I see the pretty lights at night . Thanks for sharing your concern!
ReplyDeleteLaura , I hope your dog boris is going to be ok . Hope he feels better soon
ReplyDeletemaking room for the King
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter was born and Christmas came around I didn't want to get caught up in the Santa Clause fantasy, so my husband and I came up with the idea of having an angel come and having a manger that is filled with gifts. We told our children that the bible tells of the angel who came to the shepherds and told them he had good news that the savior was born and they could find Him in a manger wrapped in clothes. So my children put out an empty manger and on Christmas morning go to it and it is filled with gifts to remind them that Christ is our gift from God. Now I am sharing this tradition with our granddaughter. It has been a great way to share the hope of Christmas with friends. My family always had a birthday cake for Jesus and we continue to do that. Christmas is a special time for me because it is my spiritual birthday.
I have enjoyed reading Luke. It is always exciting to listen to what God is saying. I'm surprised at the verses that stand out.
In my progress with money, calories and time I have lost 8 pounds, am spending less money, and focusing on my time with God. It has been good to have focused on this as I know I would not have accomplished this without this support and coaching.
May we all be thankful for the gift Christ gave us in becoming human so that he could die for us and be our Savior!!
