Week Three: Deliver the Good News to the Desperate

Have you ever shared your testimony before--in public, with friends, family, or strangers?

This week, I'd like you to consider how you would share your God story in each of these situations.

Start with an outline: before I knew God, how I met Him, since I've known Him. Then imagine yourself in each place.

For example, if you were in a public setting, maybe you could share your God story at your church (in Sunday School class), at a neighborhood Christmas coffee (where you invite a few friends), or at work in a breakfast bible study. If you shared with friends and family, you could incorporate a spiritual sharing time and/or scripture reading before or after a traditional meal or gift giving. With strangers, you can be alert to opportunities God gives you with clerks, transportation agents, or by intentionally seeking out an opportunity at a homeless or food shelter.

Role play with someone what you would say, how it would feel to tell your story, your opening comments and a closing comment or prayer. Then get ready for God to use you.

As you prepare yourself to be used by God to share your story (and His story) with others, imagine that this is God's plan and He's inviting you to be a part of sharing the Good News with those who are desperate for change, hope, peace, and forgiveness. You have the answer that people are searching to find!

Be encouraged,

Becky

P.S. Saving money, calories and time update/evaluation is next week, so stay focused!

  1. Deliver the Good News
When I was in HS I had the opportunity to work with athletes in action. I was challenged to share my testimony. I used this same format. When I gave it it the first time I was so nervous. I asked the Holy Spirit to give me the right words to say. Afterwards my guy friend said that the Lord spoke to him through my testimony and he wanted to know Him. God uses us despite ourselves. I have share it many times since and each time I'm in awe of God's moving sprit. It was at Christmas when I accepted the Lord as my savior and Lord. So this is a very special time.
May we all have wonderful opportunities to share God's love and hope for us.

  2. I have been being a helper to my 86 year old neighbor who broke her arm the week before Thanksgiving, this opened opportunities to share my faith with her and her non-God believing boyfriend. I told her that I was praying for her that she wouldn't need surgery and guess what she is in the clear. I shouted yes, indeed God hears our prayers and it does make a difference. The boyfriend responded,"I am envious of your faith." I responded with it is open to you as well and how to receive Jesus, our Messiah! Thank you for the prompting.
On another note: I was with a friend yesterday that made a comment that stopped me in my tracks. We are doing a service project at the rescue mission, (we were going to use some free stuff I had in my garage) In the process of planning the event, she didn't like the free stuff and wanted to go to buy stuff at our local craft store. She said," well I have already blown my budget might as well buy some more." (they were having trouble making there mortgage and went to Pottery Barn and bought 100's of dollars of decorations) This relates to us because just because we blow one day exercise, time with God, spending to much, eating too much, doesn't give us the excuse to continue. Today is a new day, with God's help we can get back on track. God's track not the worlds. So, I am back to exercising today. Be encouraged. God hears our prayers and wants the best for us. My daughter needed a new place to live and she was going to take an apartment that she really couldn't afford. I told her to pray and God would open the door for her. Big time answer, I just moved her into a house over looking the ocean that she will be house sitting for the owners. Free, she is getting married in July when they will be back. God is Good!!

  3. Thanks for sharing that Diane and Robbie! The occasion didnt come up for me this week, but I have 'rehearsed' this in the past and gone over what I would say. I believe I have actually shared with people before, but not seen an actual commitment.

Had a very hard hard week this week, as yesterday we had to put our golden retriever to sleep. The cancer got really bad on Sunday after we had one last good week with him.
So, it has not been an ordinary week.
To top it off, the cat came up with a huge mess of abcessed teeth, which we discovered right after putting the dog down. He had surgery this morning.......

  4. Laura, I know the pain and sadness of putting a family pet down. Very hard and very emotional. A great book by Randy Alcorn, Heaven, talks about our favorite dogs being in heaven--it's a great (and very comforting) book. I trust that your sadness will draw you closer and closer to the Lord. He is the reason for every season of our lives, eh? Becky
