Please read (and print) this post (below) that details our journey in the next 12 Weeks before Christmas. Put this outline in a few places...your purse, your prayer notebook, on your bathroom mirror. SEE the plan daily. Pray for courage for yourself and others.
Before our first call next Wednesday, on October 7th, please sit down with a journal and consider what in your life needs the most attention: your finances, fitness levels, time management, and/or relationships. (Don't feel overwhelmed, just be honest and trust that with God's help, we will all see progress and be encouraged by each other.)
Next week, we'll set specific goals for saving money, calories and time. This week, be prayerful--ask God, "What, when, where, how..." and listen for His marching orders.
We journey together and this quarter, I am planning to get us through the toughest part of the year with the highest of standards. As we go through the holiday season--when money, calories, and time--can flit away, you will be challenged to save, conserve, and plan ahead.

Becky,
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to get the other journal entries transferred over to this site? Such encouragement and excitement. Today I read a very good article in the LA Times titled Know thy enemy:sugar. It was written in the My turn section by Kathy Price-Robinson. She had a lot of good things to say but the thing that got me was she sounded like you Becky in the 3rd quarter when your friend said you don't cheat. (that stuck with me and kept me leaving those cookies on the plate instead of in my tummy. I am currently at a my optimum weight and I would like to stay this way. Kathy said, "My secret? There is no secret. It is hard work, a lifelong commitment to health." There it is: a commitment. Isn't that what we have been talking about having a plan and sticking to it! This is the most excited I have ever been about going into the holidays. I love all of you. Praying for the Colorado Springs lady that you will adjust and love Colorado. My parents lived in Evergreen it was such a great place to live. Your NY friends are going to come visit. Shirley Dobson cried for a week when James Dobson said they were moving to Colorado Springs from LA. she said later that those were wasted tears as she can't imagine living in a better place than CS. Keep posting God is good and he takes good care of us.
OK, this is the real one and the right one now?
ReplyDeleteI kept bookmarking the blog and then got them all confused!
Hi All: May miss tomorrow's call.
ReplyDeleteHad to take my elderly Mom to hospital today. She was complaining of arm and leg weakness. Was there 8 hours with no sign of a doctor at all. Would appreciate a prayer sent our way.
She was fine when I came home for lunch, but we surely need some answers and wisdom for the doctors. Flu cases appear to be taking all their time at the moment. They admitted her to be safe, but they have not seen her yet.
Thanks all.
Hi Ladies,
ReplyDeleteI'm a semi-newbie and new for this year. I stepped on the scale this morning and it was worse than I thought. Where do those extra pounds come from... I think sugar is the culprit. Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary, and it feels like dinner will be the last supper! Actually, thanks to Becky, I'm coming up with a plan, and I'm going to take it one meal at a time.
I'm looking forward to Becky's call tomorrow.
Thanks!
I can't bring the comments over from the old blog BUT I will leave it open for you all to review and/or print.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward WITH GREAT anticipation to this series. I sense everyone has that same expectation that together we can/will see great and sustainable progress.
Yea!
Becky
This is my first quarter to be involved. I have been doing some good work on a healthy eating plan and watching spending--I want to keep the momentum going and be ready for the next area of change. It's nice to be welcomed!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for the series - this is my first as well! This morning I read Prov. 24:27 - "Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that build your house" It felt like God was saying - "first things, first" and I feel like that's what discipline, commitment and planning are all about. So excited for what God is going to do!!!
ReplyDeleteWoW!
